Research

Research is the intellectual lifeblood of Kepler Business College. It underpins the academic excellence of our teaching, drives innovation within our community, and provides impactful solutions to complex global challenges. Our research ethos is defined by its interdisciplinary nature, its commitment to rigorous inquiry, and its focus on real-world relevance. We foster a dynamic and supportive environment where our faculty and students are empowered to pursue bold, curiosity-driven research that pushes the boundaries of knowledge.

Our Research Ethos: Collaboration and Impact

We believe that the most pressing challenges of our time cannot be solved by a single discipline. Our research is therefore structured to encourage and facilitate cross-departmental and international collaboration. We actively build partnerships with industry leaders, governmental bodies, and non-profit organisations to ensure our research is not confined to academia but is translated into tangible strategies, technologies, and policies that shape society for the better. Ethical considerations are at the forefront of all our research activities, ensuring our pursuit of knowledge is conducted with integrity and a deep sense of social responsibility.

Key Research Centres and Institutes

Our research activities are concentrated within several key interdisciplinary centres, which serve as hubs for innovation and collaboration. These centres bring together leading academics, postgraduate researchers, and industry partners to tackle critical issues.

  • Centre for Computational Finance and Economic Modelling: This centre operates at the nexus of our Finance, Economics, and Computer Science programmes. Researchers here develop advanced algorithms for financial market analysis, model systemic risk in the global economy, and explore the economic implications of decentralised technologies. Their work directly informs the curriculum and provides insights to financial regulators and institutions.
  • Institute for Artificial Intelligence and Human-Centric Design: This institute bridges the technical expertise of our AI specialists with the creative and user-focused approach of our Design faculty. Research projects include the development of ethical AI frameworks, the design of intuitive human-AI interaction systems for complex industries, and the use of machine learning to create personalised and adaptive learning experiences.
  • Global Governance and Strategic Futures Unit: This policy-focused unit brings together experts from International Politics and Strategic Management to analyse emerging geopolitical trends and their impact on global business and governance. Research areas include the strategic implications of great power competition, the governance of digital trade and data flows, and the development of sustainable and resilient global supply chains.

Postgraduate Research Community

Our postgraduate researchers are an integral part of our intellectual community. We offer a comprehensive Doctoral (PhD) programme that provides aspiring academics with the training, mentorship, and resources to conduct world-class, original research. Each PhD candidate is supported by a dedicated supervisory team of at least two faculty members, providing expert guidance and diverse perspectives. Our Doctoral School offers a structured training programme in advanced research methodologies, academic writing, and professional development, preparing our graduates for successful careers in academia, research, and high-level policy analysis. We foster a collegial and collaborative environment, where students are encouraged to present their work at international conferences and publish in leading academic journals.
